While initially there were reports of a tornado that led to flooding across large parts of KwaZulu-Natal, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) confirmed that it wasn't a tornado but a landspout.

As part of the mission, several African heads had traveled to Russia and Ukraine to seek peace, and end conflict between the two countries.

Following his visit to the New Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris last week, the South African leader shared his views in the weekly newsletter on Monday.

"South Africa can leverage its weight to help bring an end to Russia's aggression in Ukraine and to preserve the UN Charter," German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said.

The generation executive pointed out that there has been an improvement specifically at Tutuka, Duvha, Kendall, and Majuba power plants. Minister of Electricity, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa also addressed the media during the Sunday briefing and said the country is closer to achieving its target of 70 percent Energy Availability Factor (EAF).

"It is our turn to host the BRICS summit and the president will at the right moment brief the nation and everybody else about what will happen, having exhausted all avenues of ensuring that BRICS takes place successfully," ANC's secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said.

The Power Purchase Agreement will make sure that in the next three to 12 months, South Africa receives 1,000 megawatts of electricity from Mozambique.

In May, the interest rate was 8.25%, which has been recorded highest in the last 14 years. However, the central bank's monetary policy committee is working to bring back the interest rate to 4.5%.

During the meeting, an agreement regarding Cyber Forensic investigations and the Fight Against Corruption between South Africa and France will be signed by the minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola, and Colonna.

"This will be a right step towards a just, fair, more inclusive and representative global architecture and governance. (The) prime minister is a strong believer in having a greater voice of the Global South countries on international platforms, particularly of African countries," an Indian official said.

"African Peace Mission brings an African perspective and an appeal for a peace process to deliberations underway in various parts of the world and within different nations on how to address the conflict in Ukraine and Russia," President Ramaphosa said.

South African trade unions and the power utility Eskom had been in talks since April and now, after discussing for months, they have finally come to an agreement of three years, where workers will get a 7% hike every year. Negotiators for the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), and the Solidarity Union have reached an agreement, after bargaining with Eskom.

"We're looking to China to help us to resolve that problem with regards to the availability of equipment," Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said.

The NHI aims to support South Africans, many of whom are unable to fund their own basic health care needs. It will be implemented in several stages and is said to cost billions of dollars.

"We are a little bit surprised at this talk of sanctions, which we regard as reckless and as very damaging to our already ailing and struggling economy," Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said.

South Africa's energy company, Eskom is all set to receive 1,000 megawatts of gas-fired energy from the Southern African country, Mozambique.

As per the statement issued on Sunday, the conversation between the two presidents took place over the weekend, during which President Ramaphosa noted the peace mission plan, which was proposed by China, was affirmed by South Africa and other African leaders.

The statement came after Ramaphosa revealed on Tuesday that he will be visiting Ukraine and Russia in the coming weeks alongside six other African heads to seek peace amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

"China attaches great importance to the progress of BRICS cooperation and supports this year's host country South Africa in hosting a successful summit and sending a positive message of solidarity and cooperation," the Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson, Wang Wenbin said.

"You should listen to where the parties are coming from and where they are and also where they want to go and having done so we will be able to give a good perspective in terms of how we see this war having an impact on Africa," President Ramaphosa said, regarding the visit to Kyiv and Moscow.
