Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba on Sunday welcomed the R120 billion investment pledges made at the province's fourth investment conference, which was held last week in Polokwane.

Ramathuba expressed gratitude to the business sector and industry leaders for partnering with the province to support its growth. These pledges are seen as a key step in transforming Limpopo's economy.

The Limpopo Premier is confident that this partnership will provide significant benefits to the people of Limpopo, offering better services and opportunities. After the conference, the provincial government noted that these pledges would help drive the province's development goals.

"The pledged investments are aimed at fueling priority areas for Limpopo's development, including green energy initiatives, critical infrastructure projects and catalytic ventures that will stimulate industrial growth and support the establishment of industrial parks," the provincial government mentioned in a statement, SA News reported.

It added, "These projects are expected to create numerous jobs, ranging from short-term positions to full-time employment opportunities, significantly impacting local communities."

The projects funded by these pledges will begin on Nov. 24 and continue until October 2025. The business sector's commitment highlights strong support for the province's seventh administration, focusing on sustainable development and economic growth.

Earlier this month, Deputy President Paul Mashatile noted that the South African government wants to attract foreign investment to promote inclusive growth and address the challenges faced by marginalized communities.

During his trip to the United Kingdom, the Deputy President met with over 20 institutional investors who are already investing in South Africa. He also spoke with the UK government to strengthen their long-standing bilateral relations and explore new initiatives to enhance trade and investment.

Mashatile stated that the government is committed to addressing the high cost of living and improving public service. He also mentioned that South Africa wants to benefit the entire African continent during its G20 Chairmanship by promoting infrastructure programs.

Earlier this year, President Cyril Ramaphosa launched Home Affairs on Wheels program in Limpopo province to provide easy access to services of the Home Affairs department.
