President Tinubu Extends Christmas Wishes, Promise Economic Progress In 2024
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday along with governors and lawmakers, wished Christians a Merry Christmas and promised Nigerians a better economy in the coming year.
The president offered prayers and comfort to families facing pain and loss in 2024. He urged Nigerians to show love and kindness to others, highlighting that such acts reflect the true spirit of Christmas, as per the official statement issued on X (formerly known as Twitter).
"Dear Fellow Nigerians, on this joyous Christmas Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to Christians across Nigeria and worldwide as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, as narrated in the Holy Scriptures," he said.
He added, "Christmas embodies the fulfilment of divine prophecy and symbolizes the triumph of love, peace and unity. It is a poignant reminder that light can emerge even in the darkest times, bringing solace and hope. This belief resonates with people of all faiths. Indeed, God is with us."
Tinubu expressed sadness over the recent tragic stampedes in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja, offering his thoughts and sympathy to those still suffering from these heartbreaking events.
He encouraged Christians to remember those facing hardships during the holiday season. He reminded them that people in need are all around us—whether neighbors, family, or individuals we meet in everyday places like places of worship, markets, offices, or boardrooms.
The president said that kindness is not dependent on wealth and that both the rich and those with modest means can make a difference through simple acts of kindness, like a smile or a word of encouragement.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to pray for the security forces protecting the country and its leaders. He highlighted the bravery of the troops, who risk their lives to protect the nation, and emphasized that they deserve prayers and strong support.
The president also called for the same support and prayers for the country's leaders, stating that with the people's backing, they can serve the country effectively and work towards prosperity.
He asked citizens to be patient, assuring them that Nigeria is on a path to recovery. He expressed optimism about the country's future, encouraging Nigerians to renew their hope and belief in a prosperous Nigeria during this season.
